Choosing to Rest and How to Do It
Hi friends! I am back after a quarantine hiatus, and it feels so good to be here with all of you! I truly love blogging, but if I'm honest, my body, mind, and soul needed a rest. Isn't life just like that though? We are constantly moving. As humans, we get to the point where we know in our heart that we need rest, but do we ever actually take that?
May You Be Filled With Hope
Many of us have lived through multiple wars. We have seen natural disasters destroy everything in their path. We have even woken up to see the twin towers fall rapidly and watched presidents come and go from the White House
Dear Anxiety Driven Mom, You Can Do This
You know anxiety all too well and what it's like raising littles with this ugly mental illness. Dealing with the full parenting load while simply just trying to breath. Parenting with anxiety is a whirlwind to say the least. Each and everyday is a guessing game as to the level your anxiety will reach.
Bring Your Mess and Leave With Peace
The holiday season is upon us, which means that we are all a little stressed out. We stress over throwing the best parties for friend or family get togethers. The perfect party has both delicious food and just the right ambiance. There's stress from trying to find the perfect gifts for friends and family. Let's not mention all the price tags from those gifts adding up in our bank accounts. We put so much on our plates this time of year, it can feel like we are going to some sort of event everyday for an entire month. If you are one burdened with mental illness, it can make the holiday season even more of a struggle.
You Can Be a Better You Anytime of the Year
It's that time of year again. Everyone is making their list of New Year's resolutions. These goals are made to motivate us to become a better version of ourselves. No matter what our goals consist of, we all have the same desire to become better people.
Love yourself, without putting others down
When I was a little girl there were messages plastered all over the television and magazines telling girls that there was a standard of the "ideal" woman. Every single model and actress was a size 0, bright blonde hair, sporting DD's, extra tan skin, and big lips. That was a very tough standard for girls to live up to. It caused a lot of pain for girls everywhere. With the entrance of social media, a whole new world has caused girls to struggle with their appearance and personality. It has continued to demonstrate that we are not measuring up.
I just can't; the depression roller coaster
Depression and anxiety are those dreaded and never ending life struggles for those who deal with them. I wish I could say that once you're out of the woods after getting some help, you'll never have to take a step back in. I wish I could say that everything once you're out of those woods is all sunshine and rainbows. However, it's not that simple.
You are worthy of unconditional love
As humans we often feel like we aren't good enough. Whether it is something horrible we've done, a deep or ugly thought towards someone else, or even feeling a lack of strength battling illnesses. We can feel as though we are unloveable if someone really knew everything about us. Feeling worthy of a perfect and unconditional type of love seems far fetched, because we are in bondage over our own brokenness.
Forgive and integrate
My daughter came home from school one day and asked me to help her with her math homework. We sat down at the table, got out her worksheets and began to work through the problems. Math is not her easiest subject, though she tries her hardest”.
Holidays vs. mental health
This time of year is the worst for those who deal with any sort of mental health issue. Yes, the “most joyful" time of the year is actually the worst for some of us. If you're new, my name is Jillian and I battle depression and anxiety.
