“Life is better being a mom.”
Do What You Have To Do
Hey mama, are you struggling to get through your day? Are you just not having it with the tantrums, refusals of naps, potty training mishaps, or fighting between children? Well, you are not alone, and I'm here to tell you to do what you gotta do!
Being a SAHM Doesn't Mean You Have to Give Up Your Dreams
Twelve years ago, I began my journey being a hairstylist. I actually thrived in cosmetology school, unlike ordinary schooling. It was a place for me to be creative and artistic, something you don't get at a four year college. During cosmetology school, I began to dream about my future as a hairstylist. The longer I was in school and the more I got to do hair, the bigger my dreams became. I was truly excited about what the future would hold for me. Thirteen months of forty hour school weeks later, I became a licensed cosmetologist. I even had my dream salon job, at Toni & Guy, which I landed shortly before I graduated. This was one of those salons that took in only the best for their team. The training that came along with the job, was bigger and better than almost any other salon. I even got to train with some of the best hairstylists of all time, Zak Mascolo and Joseph Marzioli. The training was extremely difficult at times, but well worth it. My dreams while working there got even bigger. Then I got pregnant and my world flipped upside down in the best way possible.
Focus On the Good to Enjoy the Growth
What do you see in this picture? You see a baby grinning from ear to ear. You see a happy moment with a child playing in the tub. What you don't see is a baby who peed in the tub, or a baby who threw a large cup full of that gross bath water in mommy's face. Parenting is full of joyful moments and it's also full of tough ones, but we can either choose to focus on the good or allow the bad overwhelm us.
Goodbye School, Hello Summer
School is finally reaching it's end for the year. Oh what a bittersweet time this is! It's such a special season for parents as we get these few months of quality time with our kiddos. The time to sleep in and stay in jammies all day. The extra giggles we get to listen to and just a little bit of extra time watching them grow up into their unique personalties. Although we absolutely love our extra time with them, we have to admit, summer break is tough!
Finding and Maintaining Mom Friends
Can I just say that I love other mamas like you! Moms that can support each other in this journey of parenthood. Moms that can lift one another up when we've had a hard day. Moms that understand that texting back sometimes may take up to a week or longer. Moms that laugh together at the ridiculous and sometimes inappropriate things our kids say. Having other moms in your life is highly important, but there's always the question of how exactly do we find and maintain these friendships? Especially since parenthood is such a busy stage in life.
I Am a Great Mom
Have you ever had that horrible sinking feeling creep into your head that you are a bad mom? Well, you are not alone! I have yet to meet a mom that doesn't feel that way about herself from time to time. Us moms tend to be constantly feeding into the lies that we are no good at what we do. We focus so often on our negative qualities that sometimes it doesn't allow for the good ones to shine through.
Any Transition In Parenting Is the Hardest Transition
As a mom of four girls, I am constantly asked by people expecting a new baby, the question of "which transition was the toughest?". My answer is always the same....every single one!
For those who are new readers or don't know my story, here's a little background. I met my husband when my oldest was 2 months old. We fell in love FAST and we got married just 11 months after meeting.
The Tattooed Mom
I am one of those moms. A tattooed mom. Whenever people see them, I get one of two responses. "Wow, that's cool! What's the story?" or "Oh, that's... different. Why did you get that?".
Hang in there tired mama
If you're a mama, you're tired....so tired. Sometimes you'll wonder how you're gonna make it through the day, and then you realize it's not even noon! Sometimes you'll be on your fifth coffee and you're still thinking you need tape to keep your eyes open.
Quit the mommy debates
The other day I saw a post on vaccinations. I'm not gonna say what side the article took or what side I took on the matter. What I will say is that it got messy. It got ugly. It got mean.
