Quit the mommy debates
The other day I saw a post on vaccinations. I'm not gonna say what side the article took or what side I took on the matter. What I will say is that it got messy. It got ugly. It got mean. I had never gotten into a debate with someone before, but something inside me thought I needed to for some reason. I saw a side of myself that wasn't pretty. And I saw a side of others that wasn't either. I felt defeated. I thought to myself... what was the freaking point of that? So I could put someone else down for their beliefs? Because that's exactly what happened.
Why do we feel the need to insert ourselves into other moms lives?
Why do we feel the need to always be right?
What would the world look like if we just let go of our egos and simply supported each other in our efforts to do what's best for our own kids?
You know what would happen? We would be a lot freakin happier! But most importantly, we would show our kids that it's okay to have different opinions. That it's okay to leave things alone and stop fighting. So let's do it!
Let's stop arguing over vaccines. Let's stop arguing over breast feeding in public. Let's stop arguing over what types of foods we feed our children. Let's stop arguing over the napping or feeding schedules we give our babies. Let's stop arguing over the working mom vs the stay at home mom! Enough is enough! Because guess what? Not one mom is gonna change her mind because you belittled her.
Let's be kind.
Let's show compassion.
And let's be a good example for our kids.
