“Life is better being a mom.”
Parenting is a Gift We Don’t Always Steward Well
Kids can sometimes wake up in a bad mood. (Don't we all!) We often chalk it up to "waking up on the wrong side of the bed", but is that really the problem? I'm guessing if we asked ourselves that question, our answer would be no.
Everyone Matters
People struggle with a wide variety of mental illnesses, but there is one thing alike in all of them, our inner struggle with feeling like we matter. Early this morning, every parent near the Denver area in Colorado got a phone call from their children's district. The phone call begins by informing us that school is being cancelled due to an ongoing security threat that originated in Denver. A young girl by the name of Sol Pais, who was only 18 years old, was tipped off to the cops as being infatuated by the Columbine mass shooting that happened nearly 20 years ago.
The Importance Of Kindness
It was 6am when my four daughters and I dropped my husband off at the airport this morning, heading out to finish up the last class in his doctoral program. We begin our journey back home, and just moments after we dropped him off, our car started shaking a little bit. I look in the rearview mirror "girls, do you feel the car shaking, or is that just me?" thinking to myself that maybe I am just feeling weird from being overly tired. They quickly respond "yes! What is that mommy?" and seconds later *pop* our tire bursts!!
The Tattooed Mom
I am one of those moms. A tattooed mom. Whenever people see them, I get one of two responses. "Wow, that's cool! What's the story?" or "Oh, that's... different. Why did you get that?".
Focus On the Good Qualities
Can I just say that I loathe that us humans are so quick to focus on each other's bad qualities rather than the good ones?
"This girl never stops talking."
"That guy is too emotional."
"This person works all the time and never spends time with their family."
"That mom allows her kids to run wild."
"That parent can't manage to keep their house clean."
"This person texts me way too often."
Quit the mommy debates
The other day I saw a post on vaccinations. I'm not gonna say what side the article took or what side I took on the matter. What I will say is that it got messy. It got ugly. It got mean.
