Sleep...What’s That?
If you are a parent of young children, just remember that you are a rockstar! You work at the office or at home with the kids with constant lack of sleep. You are awesome! If you're a parent, you know all too well of these various stages.
The Baby Stage:
All day you are constantly holding, changing, and feeding them. Then comes night time, finally time to rest. Praise Jesus! You put your insanely adorable babes to bed and you fall asleep yourself. You and that sweet baby count sheep and fall fast asleep for the night. FALSE, you do not sleep for the night. You are waking up every 3 hours. The whole process begins, diaper changes, feedings, and soothing. Change, feed, soothe. Change, feed, soothe. Just when you think you're gonna lose your mind, they do something incredibly precious! It's that little squeeze of their hand on your finger, or when they snuggle up on your chest for comfort.
The Toddler/School Age Stage:
You know that feeling at the end of the night? Getting into your comfy sweats, grabbing a glass of wine or tea, and taking a deep breathe of relaxation next to your significant other? The sound of silence fills the room and you think to yourself that you've conquered the day. You got through another day of diapers, snot, accidents, hugs, and sweet giggles.
Five minutes later comes the crying, so much crying. Didn't I just feed you, bathe you, read to you, sing to you, pray with you, and give you extra cuddles? It begins. "Mommy. Daddy. I need this. I need that." Maybe we should teach them the true meaning of a need *sigh*.
After you and your significant other play a round or two rock, paper, scissors, one of you goes to put them back to sleep. Of course when you do, they say those sweet words about how much they love you! And there we go, the reason we endure the long sleepless nights. Being a parent is TIRING. We run on lots of coffee and sarcasm, or at least I know Ido. If you are a part of the parent club, you recognize that all those sleepless nights are truly blessings, because we get to be parents.
As you can see, I am not quite to other stages yet, but I'm sure many other of you mamas have. For now, I live in bliss believing that they will continue to love each other forever!
