Looking Our Best Makes Us Feel Our Best

I’m writing this blog as I slowly meltdown from anxiety and depression. I left my house anticipating a peaceful afternoon out writing when I found out my favorite coffee shop was closed early for the day. I don’t often make plans for this reason, because when I do and things don’t work out, I don’t do well mentally. Figuring out a new place to go is stressful for me. I frantically chose a new place to go. I don’t know the menu, and as I’m at the register I can feel the barista anxiously awaiting my order. Fine, just make it a vanilla latte.

I go to sit down inside knowing my laptop is almost dead. Most of these seats don’t have a charging area, but I finally find one and it’s open. So, you’re brought up to where I am now, in my seat, and guess what? The outlet isn’t working. I guess we’ll see how far I get with this blog today.

That’s how life with depression and anxiety are though, filled with everyday worries and fears, lots of moments that make us feel awful mentally. Which is how I feel often with clothing, especially with the extra pounds from motherhood. That’s why I’m writing this though, to tell you about clothing that actually make me feel great about myself!

The Buttery Leggings

Let’s start with the leggings, the basics of the female wardrobe. I can’t tell you how many pants I have gotten from brands that I thought were top quality and I’ve ended up hating them after all. It’s either a problem with the way they stretch out funny, make my mom pooch look weird, don’t hold up with several washes, attract my cats fur (my absolute nightmare with 3 cats), they are see through (also a horror in public), the material feels terrible, or they just aren’t flattering.

These leggings from 1st Form check all the boxes from every category above! The top is perfect for mom stomachs. It’s the perfect balance of making it look good but also not feeling too tight. My personal favorite, you can’t see through the material, even when bending over to pickup your children while they throw a tantrum in the store.

The Sports Bras

Holy moly these are flattering! Even for those like me who are less fortunate, its amazing. I’m personally a huge fan of the longline one that comes just above the line of the pants that I previously mentioned, so now I don’t even have to wear a t shirt.

It’s extremely comfortable while working out with lots of hold. However, I could and have many times worn this grocery shopping. It just looks and feels like a tank top without having to wear a normal bra. It’s just as a soft as the pants and I am obsessed!

The T-shirts

I have issues with t-shirts, like serious issues. For some reason the print is sideways, the hem is funky and folds up after washing, the neckline stretches out and looks awful, or the material is so dang itchy. Not with these t-shirts.

These 1st Phorm t-shirts are premium. When you feel them, you will fall in love, so be prepared. No stretching either, no weird necklines or hems, no itchy material, just pure softness. I honestly don’t want to wear anything but these to bed, to the gym, to the grocery store, or around the house. If you think I’m kidding, ask my husband. He is fully aware of my new obsession.

Also, I might wanna note that while these are men’s t-shirts, they’re more like unisex. I love the fit, and I’m sure you will too!

Workout Shorts

Workout shorts have never really been my thing. I don’t like the way they show too much skin when I bend over, do squats, or any workout routine that involves being on the floor. These shorts though, they hug your legs similar to a legging, so no extra skin is exposed.

Okay, and just like I have mentioned with everything else, they’re also amazingly soft! Even after washing them several times. Then there’s the stretch! I haven’t known shorts to be this stretchy.

I Want To Workout Now

I hate working out. I don’t feel cute and I think that’s where my problem starts. I am not motivated when I feel terrible about myself. I get that not everyone feels this way, but I know for a lot of you out there with anxiety, depression, or anything of the sort, you’ve been in a similar boat before like me.

When I put these clothes on to workout, I feel genuinely good about myself, which is not easy for me.

This past week I started a 6 week journey on fitness, and I can’t wait to share how that goes with you all, but for now, here are the amazing things that helped me get started!

xoxo,

Jillian
