Spring Outfit Ideas and How To Style Them
I may just be an ordinary mom, but I love fashion! I also may not always know what to wear or how to style it, but I really lucked out with friends who do know what they’re doing!
I teamed up with two amazing ladies who own and run the two cutest clothing shops I’ve ever been into (Blush Boutique and Charlie and Co. Company)! These ladies have hand picked various items that are perfect for Spring and my personal favorite to dress up for, Easter Sunday. They are helping me figure out what to wear and how to style them.
Start With the Perfect Staple
When styling any outfit, it’s always good to start with a focal point. This is the piece that attracts the attention and the piece you love. Dresses or skirts, especially during this time of year are a great place to start. A dress that has a great pattern and colors to suit your skin tone. If you don’t know what looks good, try on different things and ask friends (or the shop owner!) to help you figure out what colors look best on you.
Play With Different Colors
I used to always wear clothing items and accessories in the same color scheme. Black on grey on white. To be fair, as a hairstylist, I’m used to wearing all black. As I started trying things on, I noticed colors I thought wouldn’t be cohesive, actually looked incredible together. Try mismatching colors and see if it works well together on you.
Adding Accessories
Jewelry has always been difficult for me, but I think that’s because I was always wearing jewelry that didn’t compliment my outfits or me. Trying different things I noticed jewelry is way easier when you just have the right options to add on. The perfect jewelry compliments and adds to the outfit.
Hats are such a cute add on to any outfit. Wide brim structured hats are the perfect addition to dresses and skirts. They are even more perfect if your hair is a bit greasy and you don’t wanna wash it.
Bralette’s are perfect, very versatile and comfy, adding just the right amount of texture.
Find the best shoes by finding the right tone. If you don’t know what works well, always go for a neutral toned shoe. Shoes can either dress up your outfit or dress them down. Sometimes a good pair of combat boots or sneakers can totally change the look for different occasions.
Change the Look by Swapping Pieces Out
As I tried on this outfit, I knew that this would be perfect for Easter Sunday or a wedding. Then my friend suggested I swap out this top for a knotted graphic tee and sneakers for a casual day. Finding key pieces that are versatile are the perfect pieces to own.
Add Ons For the Weather
Jackets and sweaters are a must for the colder weather. In Colorado it can be hot one hour and freezing the next. Not only that, but if you go to church, you know how cold it can sometimes get in there. You can always find me bringing a sweater or jacket.
Jean jackets are a great add on for Spring, especially an oversized one. Or my new favorite, a shirt jacket. These came into play recently and I am obsessed! In winter we wore them as extra warm shirts, but now we can add them to our Spring time outfits as an open sweater.
Whatever you dress in, make it fun and make it you!
