The stereotype of being a girl mom

I'm sure many of you have seen the boy mom vs girl mom video recently swirling around Facebook. I honestly don't know where this came from. The idea of girls being well behaved vs boys who aren't. I am a mother of FOUR girls. I cannot attest to what it's like with boys, but I sure can say what it's like raising girls.

This video starts with a mom walking into her daughters perfectly clean room other than a small teddy bear. Ummmm.....no. My daughters room (they all share) is disgusting. Their room resembles an episode of hoarders, the beginning part! They rip up pieces of paper for fun, pull on the blinds and break them, if there's a tiny opening in a stuffed animal the entire stuffing will be pulled out, milk splattered on the walls and they often hurt themselves falling off beds from jumping on them.

The next scene is a mom begging her son to put on her shoes while her daughter is so well behaved it allows her to talk on the phone. Oh my gosh, not even close. I'm sure any neighbors we have ever had know my girls are the worst with getting their shoes on, because after 20 times asking nicely and begging I've gotten to mean mom voice. So no, girls are equally as terrible at getting shoes on in the morning. As for the talking on the phone while a child is awake? That doesn't happen either.

Then all the moms go to the park. The girl moms are chatting and sipping wine while their girls are playing nicely. The boy moms are constantly screaming at their boys for misbehaving. I don't know about you, but I have never gone to the park with that much ease. My girls fight over swings, fall off after using them the wrong way, and throw things at each other that they've found on the ground.  Maybe the chaos came when I had multiple girls and they were able to egg each other on.

All I can say is that having girls doesn't mean life is easy. Kids are all very different, but they are just kids! They ruin things, scream loud, tear the house apart, but they all have hearts of gold! They may not be easy but we take the bad with all the good!

.....girls are also NOT easy to potty train.....
