Moving with children
We just finished moving from California to Colorado as my husband took on an awesome new job. Can I just mention that I am beyond happy that we no longer have to pay California housing prices? Hallelujah! Anyways, 18 hours of driving with four young children (7, 4, 3, and 1) and I thought to myself

moving with children is insane! First, you have to get the house packed without skipping a beat. Those kids still need your full attention. They still need to be fed, changed, given ample amounts of love, taken out for fun adventures, etc. all while managing to pack all of your things. The toughest part though is every time you pack something up, they pull it all out. Seriously kid!? Save that unpacking attitude for when we get to the new house. Then there's dealing with all the stuff you actually have. Kids are pack rats. They have more toys and stuffed animals than you could ever imagine. You probably keep telling yourself that someday you're gonna stop buying them more toys and stuffed animals. I usually forget about that rational voice in my head when they give me those puppy dog eyes. I'm weak.
The worst part in the chaos? The actual transporting of children from point A to point B. I don't care, whether you take them via plane or car, those boogers don't want to sit still. They are constantly bored or irritating each other. "If you just share with your sister, I will give you a whole chocolate candy bar!" No judgments on bribery. No matter what you encounter along the way, there are many joys to keep your spirits high! Even if your car completely breaks down in the middle of nowhere and you have to get a more than questionable hotel with your children while the car gets repaired. I promise there are joys! Like the look they get when they pick which new room they want to be theirs, and my personal favorite, when they see their mounds of toys and stuffed animals again like it's Christmas morning.
Embrace the good along your journey. And remember, if you don't ever have any crazy moments with your kids, you'll never create any good memories!
