Being a parent at Christmas blows

I'll admit it. Being a parent at Christmas blows.  Christmas is a beautiful time of the year. All the decorations. All the caroling. All the cookies. All the family. All the presents. And you know....of course Jesus. Hallelujah!

So why on earth is Christmas a nightmare with children? Because....TOYS. That's it, toys. Toy advertisements are literally a parents worst nightmare. Especially during Christmas time. Encouraging all kids across the world to write down a list of all the things they want. No thank you!

Our kids do not need that giant play yard to fill the basement which they'll then become bored within a month. Our kids do not need that karaoke machine that blasts "let it go" at all hours of the day. Our kids do not need a snow cone maker that uses all our man power only to make the most disgusting snow cone.  Toy industries are destroying our kids idea of a real need. Wanna know what a need is Susan? WATER. Water is a freaking need. Not that barbie car that goes 2.5 miles per hour.  Not only does it destroy the idea of a need, but it teaches our kids who is better based off of what gifts their parents are able to afford. Like it's bad that you got just one or two small things? Sorry, nope.

So yea, Christmas with kids blows, at least the americanized version of "Christmas".  Let's try and get to a place where advertisements aren't about getting what we want, but more giving what others need.

Learning to stop all the daily activities and be with our family...laughing....playing....creating memories.

Let's get back to what celebrating Jesus by doing what he did best....LOVING OTHERS.
